Flowers in the desert

by latefall, (http://latefall.shoe.org/)
The Perfect Heart reminds me of another story. I hope the translation makes some sense.

There was a woman who had to walk several hours each day to get water. She carried two clay jars on each shoulder. One jar was new, but the other jar was chipped and cracked in several places. By the time she returned home each day the old jar would only be half full of water.
One day the old jar asked her, "Mistress, Why do you keep me. I am old and of no use".
The woman said, "Have you noticed the flowers growing along the path that we walk? How do those flowers grow when all is desert around them? It is you that waters them on our way home. Without you there would be no flowers".
So, remember, we are never too old or too broken to be of use.
