I've never been involved in politics. I've never believed that politics are effective in any way. Rather I've viewed it as a game. The player with the most money wins. Just as in poker, you may find an exception occasionally. But, that is not the norm.
In the 2016 presidential election 58.1% of those eligible to vote did so. So, the majority spoke. What if this happens again? What if the majority of Americans want a Whiter, straighter, country?
Then what? Democracy has worked as it should?
When your family votes on where to go for vacation. You hate camping. But, year after year, the majority vote wins. How is justice served? Should one be allowed to rebel after a democratic vote?
DJT did not create a bunch of crazy, bigoted Americans. They have been there since the beginning of America. He just gave them a voice, and a platform. Should Biden win, the crazy bigots will still be here, and probably more dangerous than ever. They are like an infection that will get worse and worse, and then become deadly.
This is what I hate about politics. It becomes Them vs Us. It's a divide that no one ever wants to repair.
So, what do I suggest instead of politics or democracy? I've always believed that if you followed the basic rule 'love thy neighbor' it would take care of everything. At the very least respect them, even if you don't like them. So, that would take care of crime. Wouldn't need any laws. Wouldn't need to build a wall around Mexico, or have any wars.
But, I know that's not reality for today. For today we need to take note. It doesn't matter how wrong we think it is. There is a HUGE group of Americans who want the country to be straight and Caucasion. Actually, I have never thought this group was the minority. But, for a while it was politically incorrect to show bigotry. Now it is Patriotic! Is it possible to mend this bridge? I really don't know.
